Russian Helicopters plans to subcontract Mi-171A2 to India – company – Military and defense

DUBAI, November 12. / TASS /. Russian Helicopters Holding Company (which is part of Rostec) plans to sign a contract with India for the supply of Mi-171A2 to the 2017 Dubai Airshow, the company’s chief executive Andrei Boginsky said on Sunday.

“At the show, we plan to sign a contract with an Indian company on the supply of Mil Mi-171A2 and to certify it in this market,” he said.

The holding company has started the Ansat certification process in China, he continued. “Our plans are to start certifying in Pakistan, Mexico, Colombia, Brazil,” he said.

“We expect that at the end of this year – early next year, our joint venture producing the Ka-226 will enter into a contract with the Indian Ministry of Defense,” he said.

Russia and India agreed to jointly produce Ka-226T helicopters in 2015.

In October 2016, the parties signed an agreement to create a joint venture.

Earlier reports indicated that the Ka-226 helicopters would be manufactured by Russian factories in Ulan-Ude and Kumertau.

Andrei Boginsky also said that Russian Helicopters could sign a contract with India for the supply of Kamov Ka-226 helicopters before the end of the year.

“We expect that at the end of this year – early next year, our joint venture producing the Ka-226 will enter into a contract with the Indian Ministry of Defense,” he said.

The Ka-226T helicopter is a lightweight multi-purpose rotorcraft with a takeoff weight of 3.4 tonnes. The helicopter is designed to carry up to 1.5 tons of cargo or seven passengers at a distance of 600 kilometers (373 miles). With its high-performance power plant, the helicopter will be operational in a wide range of altitudes, in hot climates and over the sea.
